Getting to know Jared Novak

Hi there, my name is Jared Novak, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's in Social Work from San Diego State University and over 10 years of clinical experience. I work with adults, college age and up (via telehealth), specializing in helping people feel heard, valued, and supported as they overcome challenges with relationships, better manage anxiety and depression, and make positive changes in their lives. My work is LGBTQIA+ inclusive. My approach to therapy varies depending on the person sitting in front of me. I tend to look at things through an existential lens (what do you want out of life?) and systems theory (examining the roles you play in your life-sister, parent, leader, coworker, friend, artist, athlete-and how these systems both support and challenge you). We may focus on solutions or explore your upbringing if something from your past is holding you back. Regardless of the approach, my style is communicative and exploratory, so we will find what works best for you. I typically work with adults who want to make changes, challenge themselves, and shift daily routines and perspectives. I enjoy working with people entering therapy for the first time as well as those with years of experience. I support individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, challenging life transitions or stressors, athletes, and those who feel they don't belong. At this time, I am not working directly with clients facing addiction issues, including substances, sex addiction, or gambling. My communication style is personable, warm, and comforting while also being direct when needed. I work hard to create sessions where people feel they can be honest with themselves and supported in opening up to a stranger-me.
