Hi there, I'm Javier! Hola, mi nombre es Javier Perales. I am a bilingual Licensed Clinical Social Worker based in the city of Tustin, CA, serving Orange County and the Los Angeles metropolitan area with in-person and telehealth sessions. I also serve statewide clients via telehealth. My passion is supporting adults and older adults on a variety of mental health concerns including trauma, substance use and other addictions, anxiety, and depression. My approach My approach includes building a solid therapeutic relationship with my clients to create a safe and supportive environment where they can be themselves. I utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness, and 12-step facilitation to assist my clients with meeting their treatment goals and improving their quality of life. My focus My client focus is to help my clients achieve their treatment goals and help them improve their quality of life. I work with adults and older adults from different backgrounds and cultures, who may be experiencing impairments as a result of past traumas, grief, substance use and addictions, sexual orientation issues, anxiety, and depression. My communication style I approach my sessions with unconditional positive regard. I am personable, nonjudgmental, caring, and an active listener. My communication style is open and honest while teaming up with my clients to meet their treatment goals. My journey to mental healthcare As an IT professional for about 20 years, I never thought I would be switching careers. My struggles with substance use disorders allowed me to reevaluate my life. As a result of my recovery, I wanted to be of service to the recovery community. This led me to involvement in 12-step groups and completing a master's program in Social Work, which started my clinical journey.
