Getting to know Jeffrey Alan Stone

Hi, my name is Jeff Stone, and I am an LCSW with a Master's in Social Work from California State University, Dominguez Hills. I specialize in working with anxiety and depression challenges, including PTSD, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and Social Anxiety, to name just a few. Another area of my focus is relationship and work/school/life-based challenges. My approach is to get to know you as a person and create a comfortable and respectful environment to help make the counseling process as easy and nurturing as possible. My approach I would describe my overall therapeutic style as eclectic, intuitive, and collaborative. I tend to use theoretical approaches such as Psychodynamic Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and the Self-help Model, among others. My goal is to find the best approach for each individual, which often includes a combination of several methods. My focus I work with clients of all ages and from diverse backgrounds. My educational background has given me a deep understanding of how each person's unique identities-including race, gender, religion, and sexuality-shape their individual challenges and worldview. While I work with all types of people, I have extensive experience supporting members of the LGBTQ+ community. My communication style I consider myself a very caring and nurturing person. My main focus is always the comfort of my clients, ensuring they feel heard and acknowledged. I like us to work together as a team, and I am a perpetual optimist who believes that all challenges offer opportunities for growth and can be overcome in one way or another. My journey to mental healthcare My journey into becoming a therapist began early, when I suffered from extreme anxiety as a child. This challenge set me on a lifelong path of learning and personal growth, including several years of working with a therapist, which ultimately inspired me to help others on their own journeys.
