Getting to know Jenifer Ludwig

Hi there, I'm Jenifer! I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist practicing in California. I earned my Master’s in Counseling from the University of Phoenix, San Diego. I work with individuals, couples, and families to facilitate growth, empowerment, and insight in a way that promotes healing. My goal is to help my clients discover healing and build a balanced life—to remain in the present moment, make meaningful space for emotions, identify and release unhelpful thoughts, and support them in developing a sense of mastery over their lives through mindfulness and taking action. My approach In my practice, I create space to explore difficulties while also amplifying strengths. I utilize evidence-based therapies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing to facilitate the challenging work clients do in order to lead the life they want to live. My focus My goal is to meet clients where they are—those struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship challenges, substance abuse, terminal illness, and phases of life transitions, among other issues. I enjoy working with clients who are ready to do the work and see their lives change for the better. My communication style I am a compassionate listener, providing a safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings with an active, empathic ear and an honest, direct communicator. My journey to therapy I was a serious athlete growing up; it was the lens through which I saw the world. Team sports helped me get through much of my early trauma and even earned me a college scholarship. However, when a severe injury took me out of competition, I had to reevaluate who I was without sports—the outlet I had relied on my whole life. I fell off track, started experiencing anxiety and depression, and found myself using food, substances, and drama as ways to numb or distract myself from the emotional pain I was in.
