Welcome and congratulations. Taking the first step toward a more fulfilling and happier life takes courage, and I commend you for it. I’m here to support you in that process. Today is a new day, and I look forward to meeting you. Have you heard the proverb, "Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish, and you feed him for a lifetime?" It emphasizes the importance of teaching skills rather than providing temporary solutions. This is the essence of therapy and the role of a good therapist. Sometimes, all we need is a little guidance and support through life’s challenges. But ultimately, we need to learn how to “fish” on our own in order to truly heal and grow. Therapy helps us change the faulty perceptions and behavioral patterns that brought us here in the first place. To facilitate this change, I use a client-centered, collaborative approach, tailoring each session to your unique needs and goals. I draw from a variety of therapeutic modalities and integrate insights from my own life experience to support your journey.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Everyone struggles, including me. My experience includes helping clients navigate stress, anxiety, and depression stemming from life transitions, work challenges, divorce, loss, breakups, and chronic illness. I’ve also worked extensively in community mental health, gaining experience with chronic conditions such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and persistent depression. On a personal level, I’ve raised children and have been married for over 20 years—experiences that have deepened my understanding and taught me more compassionate, less confrontational communication strategies. I’m emotionally attuned and caring, but I’ll also be direct when it’s necessary. Everyone responds differently, and some people may initially struggle with accountability. I see my role not as a director, but as a guide—someone who walks beside you on your path to self-discovery. My own journey began after I lost both of my parents to cancer when they were still young. I felt lost and overwhelmed, unsure of how to enjoy life again. At the time, I struggled to find a provider I truly resonated with, so I decided to understand myself on my own. After several life delays—marriage, family, and more—I returned to school and persevered through many challenges to earn my license.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My goal is to help clients learn how to “fish” so they can grow into confident, responsible, and independent individuals. Together, we will set realistic goals and gently explore expectations if they become overwhelming. Ultimately, I want you to find peace with yourself and learn to love who you are. Self-kindness is the key to lasting happiness. Don’t be nervous! I want your first session to feel like you’re talking to a friend—someone who genuinely cares about your success and well-being. I’m not here to judge or make you feel inadequate. In our first conversation, we’ll discuss your background, your reasons for seeking therapy, and your hopes. From there, we’ll begin to collaborate on your goals. Therapy doesn’t have to be scary.
