“What sold me initially was seeing that he accepts tri-care which told he has experience in what I was looking for. But now it’s because of his experience and how he makes me feel comfortable. I don’t even feel like I’m in a therapy session but he has helped me so much.”

Getting to know Jesse Marez

My name is Jesse Marez, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California since 2003. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of California, Los Angeles. Over my practice, I have developed the ability to respond to clients personally and individually while establishing therapeutic rapport using motivational interviewing, client-centered therapy, and Jungian and existential psychology. My clinical orientation is cognitive behavioral (CBT) and client-centered therapy with a specialty in Trauma Focused CBT; I am also well-versed in psychodynamic and humanistic psychology. My specialties include Trauma, Mood Disorders, Anxiety and Stress, Family Dynamics, and Relationships. My approach I draw on my training and experience to ensure a safe therapeutic space with room for creativity. For example, I incorporate my knowledge of and passion for Jungian archetypes from Star Wars, Marvel, DC, anime, and mythology. However, client-centered means we start with YOU, beginning where you are and focusing on what you need and ask for. The therapeutic approaches I commonly use include Client Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems, Grief Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Positive Psychology, Strength-Based/Person-Centered, and Trauma Focused. My focus I have worked with children, adolescents, families, and adults facing various behavioral and psychological challenges. Having worked in diverse settings such as a child therapy clinic, an adoptions agency, a psychiatric hospital, and a prison, I have experience across age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Due to my diverse practice, I am comfortable treating Addiction, Anger Management, Anxiety, Family Conflict, Grief, Mood Disorders, Relationship Issues, School Issues, Self-Esteem, Spirituality, Sports Performance, Stress, Substance Use, Trauma, and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.
