Getting to know Jessica Maguire

I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) licensed in North Carolina and South Carolina with nearly two decades of experience. I offer compassionate, goal-oriented therapy that helps clients create real, lasting change in their lives. My approach is supportive, direct, and always grounded in empathy. I believe therapy is a partnership. My clients are the experts on their lives, and my role is to help guide, support, and challenge them as they move toward their goals. I use evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution-Focused Therapy, which help us focus on what’s working and build practical tools for growth. I create a safe, judgment-free space where clients can explore openly and feel seen and heard. I work with adults navigating life transitions, stress, anxiety, relationship challenges, and personal growth. My ideal clients are ready to explore what’s holding them back and are open to doing the work to create change. Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just looking for more clarity in your life, I'm here to support you with compassion, structure, and encouragement.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I’m direct but always compassionate. I say the hard things when needed—but always with empathy, kindness, and encouragement. My goal is to make you feel heard, respected, and supported, while also helping you challenge patterns that may be keeping you stuck. Clients describe me as warm, real, and easy to talk to. I’ve known since I was young that I was meant to be a therapist. Even as a kid, people would open up to me—even total strangers! That natural connection and curiosity led me straight from high school to college to graduate school to pursue social work. I've been practicing since 2005, and I still love what I do. Helping people grow and move toward their best lives is truly an honor.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We’ll start by identifying what matters most to you—whether it’s reducing anxiety, improving relationships, building confidence, or navigating a life change. From there, we’ll set realistic goals and break them down into manageable steps. I’ll offer tools, insight, and accountability along the way, always celebrating your growth as we go. You set the pace; I walk alongside you. Our first session is a relaxed, open conversation. We'll talk about what brought you to therapy, your past and present experiences, and what you'd like to gain from our work together. There’s no pressure to share more than you’re ready for—you're always in control of the pace and direction. My goal is for you to leave feeling heard, supported, and hopeful about the process ahead.
