Jessica Smith, LPC

Psychotherapist
CO
Hi there, I'm Jessica! My name is Jessica Smith, and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) based in Canon City, Colorado, working with clients statewide via telehealth. I hold a Master’s in Clinical Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado. I work with adults of all ages and specialize in anxiety, depression, borderline personality disorder, addictions, self-injury, trauma, and adjustment concerns. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills training. These modalities help my clients gain skills to navigate life’s difficulties and work toward a fulfilling life. My approach My approach varies based on each client’s therapy goals. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy with Dialectical Behavioral Therapy skills. These modalities help set goals in sessions while using evidence-based treatments and research-supported interventions. My focus I have found my style and approach fit adults of all ages. Clients and I often get stuck in behavior patterns and benefit from viewing actions from a nonjudgmental, behavioral perspective. This helps adults feel less stuck in repeating behaviors and more accepting of where those responses come from. This stance supports managing symptoms of anxiety, depression, addiction, trauma, adjustment, and self-injury. My communication style My communication style is calm and nonjudgmental. I want clients to feel comfortable discussing concerns openly. I appreciate the DBT assumption that clients and clinicians are doing the best they can and can always improve. I communicate that I know clients have tried to fix concerns, and sometimes we all need insight from a nonjudgmental, supportive person to do better.
