Getting to know Jill Garman

Hello, I'm Jill Garman, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's in Social Work from San Diego State University and a Bachelor's degree from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona. I hope to serve as a compassionate and helpful guide toward your personal goals by helping you access your strengths and develop new tools and skills that will serve you now and in the future. For over 20 years, I've provided an individualized approach to counseling those experiencing varied levels of anxiety, depression, relationship issues, complicated grief, loss of purpose, loss of lifestyle, health decline, role or identity challenges, and abusive family histories. My approach Being human can be challenging for all of us. Throughout our lives, we can feel lost, weak, helpless, hopeless, and distrustful of others as well as ourselves. I believe people are resilient, creative, brave, and hold strengths they often forget they possess. In working together, I'll consider your culture, values, spirituality, and goals. I focus on solution-based theories, reframing negative thinking using CBT, and integrative or holistic therapy tailored to meet your specific needs. As Charles Darwin said, “It is not the strongest of the species that survive, nor the most intelligent, but the ones most responsive to change.” My focus Our thoughts and feelings are often involuntary. Negative or painful thoughts and feelings can diminish the quality of our lives. In my practice, clients have presented with anxiety, depression, feelings of isolation, abusive family histories, transitions due to loss of lifestyle or death of a loved one, and those facing terminal or life-threatening illnesses. Each experience and intensity is unique. Together, we will work to address your pain, loss, disappointment, and whatever is stopping you from realizing your goals-toward living your potential and experiencing more joy.
