Getting to know Jiovanna Hernandez

My name is Jiovanna Hernandez, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's in Social Work from Florida Atlantic University. I have a passion for working with people of all ages who are struggling with depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, and trauma, helping them find new paths and walk successfully through them. My approach is unique to each person I work with, as everyone has different needs. Whether our sessions are activity-based, learning-based, or focused on processing day-to-day struggles or past issues, I will meet you where you are, and together we can begin your healing journey. In my treatment, I utilize tools such as explanatory pictures, videos, and worksheets. I also incorporate monitoring tools to track progress while introducing evidence-based interventions like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Psychoeducation. I believe that the person involved in therapy should take part in deciding which tools are used to better empower themselves. I specialize in working with children, adolescents, teens, young adults, and families. I have experience with all ages and most diagnoses, feeling especially comfortable working with Adjustment Disorder, Depression, Generalized Anxiety, Social Anxiety, Bipolar Disorder, Trauma/Stressor-Related Disorders, ADD/ADHD, and Disruptive Dysregulation Mood Disorder. In my sessions, I use compassionate communication to help clients feel safe, affirmed, and understood. I also keep things light-hearted and sometimes humorous when appropriate to ease the heaviness that can come with certain issues. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, I have always been passionate about empowering underrepresented, oppressed, or marginalized populations and assisting the people I work with in gaining access to healthcare and treatment.
