Hi there, I'm Jocelyn! I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor as well as a licensed clinical addiction specialist with the state of North Carolina, and I have over 12 years of counseling experience. I received a Master of Arts in Human Services and a Master of Science in Clinical Counseling from Bellevue University, in Bellevue, Nebraska. I received my undergraduate degree in psychology from Barton College in Wilson, North Carolina. I have served as team lead of an Intensive In-Home team serving children/adolescents at risk of out-of-home placement or reunifying with their families, as well as an outpatient therapist providing individual (adult and children), family, and substance abuse counseling. My approach I am person-centered and solution-focused. I have compassion for families, and I am trained/certified to treat trauma. My focus I have extensive experience in treating depression, mood disorders, children with behavioral issues as well as trauma of all ages. My communication style I am very open and extremely non-judgmental. I actively listen and exercise patience to ensure each client is heard as well as clearly understands what is being relayed to them. My journey to mental healthcare My journey to becoming a therapist began out of my passion to be of assistance to those in need. I always want to have a positive impact on people's lives. My goals for you I believe treatment is a collaborative effort; therefore, the client's needs and expectations for therapy are a major priority. I hold my clients accountable while practicing empathy and providing support. Treatment goals are fluid, meaning they can change based on the client's progress and changing needs.
