Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Jody! Welcome! As a Marriage and Family Therapist licensed in California and Arizona, I bring a holistic and systemic approach to therapy. I see you as a whole person with many dimensions, shaped by a unique history and living within a complex present. I typically work with individuals dealing with trauma, anxiety, or depression, as well as couples facing persistent conflicts and disconnection. Many of my adult clients have experienced difficult or less-than-ideal parental relationships. I earned my Master’s in Marriage & Family Therapy from Fuller Theological Seminary, which laid the foundation for my work grounded in family systems theory. My theoretical orientation begins and ends with Family Systems. I understand people, their emotions, and behaviors as products of how their upbringing—and their responses to it—interact with their current context. This doesn’t mean we spend all our time discussing childhood, but your upbringing informs how you operate now. It’s up to you what you choose to share; however, your success will be influenced by how comfortable you feel being open and honest. Healing, growth, and transformation occur when we acknowledge your specific circumstances, work within their limitations, and leverage your strengths. Any change you make will ripple through your relationships and vice versa. I also incorporate Trauma-Focused, Emotion-Focused, Restoration, CBT, Client-Centered, and Strengths-Based modalities as appropriate. As mentioned, I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, or trauma, and couples struggling with conflict, trauma, or connection. I am a cisgender white female, but like you, I am more than my orientation or ethnicity. I may be the right therapist for you if you are dealing with maternal mental health (including infertility), racism, family conflict, abuse, lack of motivation, becoming an adult, or transitioning from one life season to another.
