Hello and welcome! My name is Joel Bovey, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker here on Grow Therapy. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from California State University, East Bay, after completing my Bachelor’s at the University of California, Santa Barbara, and my Associate’s at Diablo Valley College.
You have taken the first and most important step by reaching out for help. I know it’s not easy and often brings up a lot of anxiety and fears. I’m here to support you along the way. I offer a safe space to open up and unpack all those difficult life experiences and help you put them back together in a more complete, perfect imperfection.

What should a new client know about working with you?
Therapy is not a linear process and often times you may not notice immediate improvement. It is like peeling back an onion and you may shed a few tears before getting to the fruits of your labor. However, with time and dedication you should start feeling a newfound sense of hope and purpose in life and breathe easier with less weight on your shoulders.

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
