Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm John! Choosing the right therapist isn’t always easy, but nonetheless it is an important first step. I hope reading a little about how I work can help make that decision a bit easier for you. So, let’s get right to it. Do you feel stuck or overwhelmed with a certain aspect of your life? Do you feel like you keep running into dead ends, or face obstacles you can't seem to overcome, whether it’s conflicts in relationships, career challenges, financial burdens, or overcoming unwanted negative thoughts and feelings? My work focuses on helping you get unstuck and overcoming personal obstacles, self-defeating limitations, and conflicts either with yourself or with others. My approach In our work together, you can expect a safe and supportive space to explore your thoughts, feelings, and choices. It’s a space that’s free of judgment, and you won’t be told what to do or how to think. You're seen as the expert, and we work together in a collaborative way to tackle the root cause of the problem, whether it manifests in anxiety or depression or a conflict you're looking to resolve. I won’t waste your time by trying to invent “good advice”, prescribe special coping skills, or give you “homework”. I’m sure you’ve had enough of that from others who meant well, but it didn’t help you solve your problems. The work is focused on attending closely and keenly to the ebb and flow of your thoughts, emotions, and perceptions by actively listening, asking open-ended and curious questions that lead you to your own awareness, insights, and resolutions, and it all happens in your own time and on your own terms.
