“I chose Ritsa because of her skill set. My husband and I appreciated that she was listening to us actively. Additionally, she didn't appear to be flustered because of the hiccups we had with technology, and she didn't abruptly end our session because we ran short of time.”

Getting to know Dr. Justin Gibson

Are you having trouble sleeping? Have you faced one stressful life event after another, making it hard to process your experiences? Do you find it difficult to communicate your needs or set boundaries in your relationships? Are you struggling with anxiety? Are you a person of color and/or part of the LGBTQ community who feels shame or struggles to fit into a society that can be disaffirming and intolerant? If so, you've come to the right place?these are areas I commonly help my clients overcome and empower them to thrive. Hi, most of my clients call me Dr. Justin. I am a Licensed Psychologist in the State of California. I earned my Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the State University of New York at Albany. I have over 15 years of experience working in student counseling, community mental health, behavioral health, and neuropsychological rehabilitation settings. I use an integrative counseling approach tailored to the unique needs of each individual. My work commonly incorporates humanistic, cognitive behavioral, interpersonal neurobiology, and multicultural perspectives. I am collaborative, trauma-informed, strength-based, compassion- and emotion-focused, and evidence-based. I serve as a guide to countless individuals on their path toward healing. My goal is to support my clients' mental health, emotional well-being, and life goals. Please contact me if you're interested in working together.

What should a new client know about working with you?

The first few sessions are about getting to know each other and creating a solid foundation for the work we do together. It's important for me to know your journey towards healing thus far, the accomplishments you have made, the strengths and talents you draw from and some of challenges or barriers you have faced. I ask about history; I ask about the present and I ask about expectations for therapy. Goals are not always necessary in therapy, but it can be helpful in the beginning stages of therapy to ensure we're on the right track. These goals can also change over time so it's my role to continue to assess progress collaboratively with each person I work with.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
