Psychotherapist
CA
Welcome! My name is Kacey Mather, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I hold a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the University of San Diego. I believe that holding space for healing is connected to my divine purpose. Growing up, I spent many moments with my mom gazing at the moon as it illuminated the lake—a place filled with memories. The moon became my teacher, offering me the most important lesson I’ve come to know: it is in the darkness where we often find the most profound beauty and light. I’ve carried this lesson with me throughout my life, learning how even in my most challenging times, there is always potential for healing and growth. As human beings, we carry patterns—some that support our wellbeing and others that no longer serve us. These patterns can become ingrained, leading us into cycles of addiction, anxiety, depression, and other struggles. They are often the psyche’s attempts to protect us from unhealed wounds, many buried, avoided, or numbed over time. From my own journey and walking alongside others, I know facing these wounds is key to healing. I believe one of the most powerful tools for healing is creating secure attachment within the therapeutic relationship. Sometimes, the first person who truly shows you unconditional love and kindness is a therapist. From my experience, profound healing occurs when we allow ourselves to be truly seen by another. My role is to hold that space for you—gently confronting when necessary, but always with love and consistency. This is the essence of secure attachment and the emotional corrective experience that facilitates growth. Within this compassionate space, you can experience what healthy, nurturing love feels like—and eventually, learn to offer that same love to yourself. My approach I approach therapy from a psychodynamic, attachment-based, client-centered lens.
