Hi there, I'm Katie! When was the last time you felt good enough? Maybe you have given therapy a shot before and found that it didn't quite match up with what you hoped. Perhaps you are just returning to therapy after some time away, or maybe this is the first time you have dared to reach out. Whatever brings you here, I'm glad that you came. My focus Whatever has brought you here, I believe we can achieve your goals together. Someone once said to me that "shared suffering is halved," and maybe that is true; regardless, going it alone never creates the progress we desire. I believe that two of the worst human emotions we experience are loneliness and powerlessness. My approach I approach all things in this life with curiosity, and I believe you know yourself best. I look forward to learning about you, and together we can build upon what you share so that you may live the best life for you! My communication style As someone originally from the Northeast, I can be rather blunt. I temper this with humor but can promise you that, in order to assist you in making the most of our sessions, I won't waste time beating around the bush. I communicate directly, efficiently, and with a side of wit. My journey to mental healthcare I have been a trauma recovery therapist for over 20 years. I became a therapist because of my trauma and the process of healing from it. There are three main components to healing: physical, emotional, and spiritual. The spiritual journey of the healing process is the most difficult. It should not be an endeavor we undertake alone. My goals for you It is never in one's best interest to have someone propose that they are an expert about your life. I rely on you to tell me about yours. I will develop a unique treatment plan based on your goals, and then we will work on them together. Think of your therapist like a guide rather than a director as you will always be the director of your own life!
