Mask Off Therapeutic Services PLLC is a mental health provider with a focus on Black women’s mental health. We identify with the taboo of seeking help, or better yet, discussing unhealthy family behaviors when growing up. “Mama” would often say, “What happens in this house, stays in this house”. You go on and don’t talk about it, and you hold it in for years. Shortly after, you realize that you are now suffering from sleep disturbance, loss of appetite, no longer enjoying once pleasurable activities, isolation, low energy, and sadness. Finally, you’re masking; a process in which an individual changes or "Masks" their natural personality to conform to social pressures. Masking can be strongly influenced by environmental factors such as rejection, emotional, physical, or sexual abuse. I use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you identify and reshape negative thought patterns. This approach gives you tools to feel more in control of your emotions and behaviors. Based on your unique needs, I include practices like mindfulness and meditation. Have you been struggling with negative thoughts and anxiety/depression symptoms?" I work with adults who are managing anxiety, job-related stress, and those seeking support for self-esteem issues. Whether you’re working through depression, building coping skills, or exploring your personal goals, I’ll work with you to create a growth plan that feels empowering and achievable. I prioritize being direct, open, and honest in communication to create a supportive, safe, and non-judgmental environment. I practice active listening and will give you opportunities to reflect on your experiences, with you being the center.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My therapy journey began with a deep curiosity about human behaviors and the desire to help others find strength through life’s stressors. During my clinical training, I had the opportunity to work with clients who suffered from anxiety and depression. This experience showed me the powerful role therapy can play in growth and recovery, which solidified my commitment to supporting others through their healing journeys. I strongly believe that everyone has the potential for positive growth and change. My reward comes from seeing my clients gain confidence or find peace. I believe that therapy is a partnership. Together, we’ll identify and set goals that matter to you, whether they focus on improving relationships, building self-esteem, or replacing negative thoughts with positive thinking. As we work together, your goals may evolve as you gain new insights. We can adapt our plan at any time to ensure it’s always meaningful and relevant to you. I’m here to provide the tools you need to continue to move closer to your goals, even when things feel challenging.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session will be an opportunity for us to build rapport with one another. We’ll discuss your background and what brings you to therapy. Therapy is a process. It’s completely normal to feel nervous about what to expect. At your first appointment, we will take it one step at a time, and I’m here to gently guide you through the process.
