“When I met with Kimberly, I found out that she was not able to prescribe medication. She was very cordial and nice to me and made an attempt to try to find a provider that could help me. She stayed on line with me for about 10 to 15 minutes trying to help me, but she did not have the resources at that time. I would definitely trust her with my psychiatric care in the future”

Getting to know Kimberly Chicagus

Hi there, I'm Kimberly! Hello, I am glad you are here! I have been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California since 2016. I earned my Master’s in Counseling Psychology from National University in San Diego. I believe our success in the ‘game’ of life is directly related to the quality of our relationships and the ability to establish and maintain lifelong, healthy connections. My experience includes working with culturally diverse individuals, couples, and families of all ages facing life’s challenges. I have worked in government and community mental health settings, helping clients cope with chronic mental illness, substance abuse, homelessness, grief, and trauma. I have worked extensively with children and families involved in the foster care system. I also help couples develop communication skills and trust. My clinical background includes completing the Grief Share Recovery Program, serving as a Valley Trauma Center Advocate—working with clients in crisis due to sexual assault—Family Advantage Counseling Services, and volunteer counseling for the Los Angeles Unified School District student population. Additionally, I am a Certified Life Coach. I maintained a private therapeutic practice from 2016 until 2019, providing supportive services primarily to teenagers and young children, using ‘play’ therapy. I use a combination of Psychoanalytic Theory, Family Systems Theory, Narrative Therapy, Experiential Therapy, CBT, and solution-focused therapy to help clients identify and solve challenging issues. I also believe in the benefits of deep breathing, yoga, Pilates, and other exercises that bring one back to their ‘center.’ I incorporate meditation and mindfulness into my clinical work. I feel I have helped individuals build self-awareness, resilience through complex issues, inner strength, and a deeper connection between mind, body, and spirit.
