Getting to know Kyra Dotter

My name is Kyra Dotter. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California with over 15 years of experience working with individuals, children, and families. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from California State University, San Bernardino. My expertise comes from a background in child welfare and forensic investigations. Currently, I focus my practice on individual adults aged 18 and older. What I love most about being an LCSW is helping folks feel unconditionally accepted as human beings whose lives and experiences matter. I use a supportive, humanistic, trauma-sensitive approach while applying elements of Cognitive Behavioral, Solution-Focused, and Dialectical Behavioral models. I typically work with women, parents, and members of the LGBTQ community. I have extensive experience supporting those who have faced childhood abuse and trauma, addiction, domestic violence, relationship struggles, work and family stress, and involuntary involvement in legal systems. My communication style centers on listening with support and loving kindness. I want you to feel accepted, appreciated, and safe with me. I strive to provide a calm, comfortable, and judgment-free environment where you can be vulnerable without worry. I have always enjoyed hearing about people’s experiences and lives. Folks lead such extraordinary existences and often don’t realize all they have endured and conquered. I love helping people feel celebrated and seen, develop a stronger sense of self, and learn how to cultivate healthy relationships with themselves and others. My primary goal is to discover and clarify what matters most to you. I also enjoy helping folks safely experience and healthfully express the full range of emotions, increase coping and communication skills, create pockets of peace in daily life, and make meaningful changes that help them feel more aligned.
