Getting to know Lauren Dahl

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master’s in Social Work from California State University Long Beach. I help clients find their light and direction in times of darkness, stress, and change. My clinical experience is rooted in medical social work, and I have helped many clients find their path to healing, support, and comfort. My approach is client-centered, compassionate, and empathetic. I use Mindfulness Self-Compassion, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, change theory, Somatic Therapy, and Solution Focused Therapy to address client-identified "road blocks" to healing and self-acceptance. My focus is on clients living with chronic illness who are experiencing grief, anxiety, depression, and life-changing events. As a chronic illness survivor myself, I understand the hurdles patients face when seeking treatment, support, and comfort, and I want to help clients navigate their own healing journeys. My communication style centers on empathetic listening and validation. I help clients identify the concerns most pressing to them and reduce distress by listening to their stories, using coping skills to calm the nervous system, and finding safety and support in the here and now.
