Getting to know Layla Hayes

As a compassionate therapist with an extensive background in supporting those grappling with chronic and terminal illnesses, grief, loss, and severe mental health challenges, I am committed to providing empathetic care tailored to each individual's unique needs. With a Master of Social Work from the University of Southern California, I bring a wealth of experience and expertise to my practice. My therapeutic approach integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Complicated Grief Therapy, and a psychosocial perspective, adapting to the specific requirements of each client. I recognize the significance of cultural considerations and strive to create a safe, non-judgmental space for individuals from diverse backgrounds. I work with a wide range of clients, including individuals, couples, families, minors (ages 13-17), and preteens (ages 8-12). My areas of specialization encompass aging, Alzheimer's, personality disorders, anxiety, depression, trauma, chronic pain, cultural stress, and more. I am dedicated to supporting clients across the lifespan, with a particular focus on the unique challenges faced by survivors of trauma. My communication style is warm, empathetic, and culturally sensitive. As a Christian, I approach all spiritual and religious orientations with an open mind and without bias, respecting each individual's beliefs and values. I prioritize active listening, collaboration, and creating a supportive therapeutic alliance. My journey to mental healthcare has been shaped by a deep desire to alleviate suffering and promote emotional well-being. Having witnessed the profound impact of chronic illness, grief, and mental health struggles on individuals and families, I felt called to pursue a career in social work. Through my clinical experience, I have developed my skills in providing compassionate, evidence-based care.

Layla was always welcoming. I felt comfortable speaking with her. We discussed issues I had and she would recommend useful strategies. We had many common experiences because we both were single mothers of two daughters. Layla would notify me in advance of the appointment, which I found very helpful because I can sometimes be forgetful. She is very likable and down to earth. I’m glad I had her as my counselor.
