Psychotherapist
NC
Hi there, I'm Leigh Ann! Are you triggered by the past in daily situations at work and home? Are you ready to take back control of your life? My name is Leigh Ann, and I'd love to partner with you with the best techniques mental health has to offer to help you take control of your stress response. I have a Master's in Counseling and 20 years experience as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor. It would be my honor to partner with you in your mental health goals. My approach I am a strengths-based, person-centered, trauma recovery specialist who uses Eye Movement Desensitization, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Internal Family Systems to help my clients gain healing from past hurts. These techniques quickly change your nervous system and core beliefs to help you implement new skills and healthier perspectives quickly to jumpstart your trauma recovery journey (when you feel stalled). If you would like to implement your faith into your trauma recovery journey, I will encourage and support that as well in therapy sessions. My focus I see individuals ages 12 and older mostly for trauma-related issues. Often, clients present with anxiety, depression, and generally troubled coping, and we find that the root of the symptoms started with negative experiences in earlier times of development. Complaints like poor self-esteem, obsessions, compulsions, general anxiety, people pleasing, trouble with boundaries, etc, often find their origin in early experiences of verbal and emotional abuse, learning strategies to navigate dysfunctional home, school, church, or team environments. It's astonishing the difference memory work through EMDR and IFS can make on these symptoms when we rework the learning that occurred in those early times of development. My communication style Clients and colleagues have most often used the word, "disarming," to describe working with or communicating with me.
