Lily Rivera, LMHC

Psychotherapist
FL
Hi there, I'm Lily! My name is Lily Rivera, but everybody calls me Annie. I am passionate about helping people help themselves through clinical approaches and various coping skills. I have years of experience working with all ages and a variety of issues, from anxiety and depression to trauma and substance use. I have also worked with families and children, providing couples therapy and play therapy. My approach I believe the foundation of building rapport with clients is best accomplished through client-centered modalities; however, I also draw from cognitive behavioral and reality-based therapy. I consider myself very eclectic and incorporate approaches from play therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, Adlerian therapy, and trauma-focused cognitive methods. Over the years, I have worked in many specialties, including substance use, children and family therapy, and behavioral health hospitals serving individuals with severe mental illness. My focus My focus is always to help clients achieve their goals at their own pace and meet them where they are. I believe in empowering clients to help themselves by gaining coping skills to manage their emotions and thoughts, enabling them to move forward independently after therapy concludes. My communication style I believe communication starts with actively listening and being attentive to clients' needs, wants, and treatment goals. I model appropriate assertive communication by being direct and respectful, which I find is the best way to communicate and teach communication skills. My journey to therapy My journey began when I was very young and experienced struggles in childhood. I realized I wanted to help other children and adults feel better about themselves and reduce insecurities in their lives. I earned my Master's in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Central Florida, which has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to support my clients effectively.
