Getting to know Lindsey Smith

Hello! My Name is Lindsey Smith and I’m a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I’m married to a US Army Veteran and we have 3 senior rescue dogs. I graduated with my BA in Psychology from the University of California Santa Barbara in 2011 and with my MS of Psychology from California State Polytechnic University San Luis Obispo in 2015 as the Valedictorian. During my 3,000 hours as an intern I trained in trauma, personality disorders, mood disorders, substance use disorders, and worked with veterans and incarcerated populations. I have specialties in substance use counseling, military trauma, depression and anxiety, and couples counseling. Once licensed, I was the lead clinician of the Adult Drug Court program in SLO County CA, which was an 18 month intensive outpatient program with a multidisciplinary team. I use a holistic and systemic approach to therapy, utilizing client strengths to help change and heal. I tend to be eclectic in therapy modality, utilizing whatever approach fits best for the individual or family I’m working with. True healing and growth can be achieved through therapy with hard work, commitment to change, and a good therapeutic rapport. Spirituality has been at the heart of my personal journey and if that is something you’d like to incorporate in your journey, I am more than happy to do so with you.
