Getting to know Linet Olivarez
Hi, my name is Linet Olivarez. I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) practicing in the mental health field for over ten years. I earned my Master's in Social Work from New York University. I have experience working with adolescents, adults, and older adults in a variety of practice settings: juvenile justice, healthcare, and emergency response.
My approach
My style is eclectic. I have an integrated approach rooted in enriching my clients' quality of life through utilizing CBT, client-centered, and trauma-informed frameworks. My goal is to remove obstacles blocking my clients' path by helping them identify what those are and supporting them in feeling secure within themselves.
My focus
I am passionate about working with individuals who may be dealing with difficulties in life transitions and/or painful experiences. The majority of clients seeking therapy come because something is having a negative impact on their quality of life. I aim to help clients identify the root causes and remove the obstacles to satisfying relationships-with themselves and others.
My communication style
I like to establish a relationship with my clients characterized by genuineness and positive unconditional regard, so they feel fully seen and understood. I strive to create a non-judgmental environment that is empathetic, supportive, and collaborative. I keep in mind that the therapeutic relationship is ever-evolving, a healthy mix of being in the present and then examining the process, making changes as needed.
My journey to therapy
It is a privilege to play a part in the stories of my clients. It's very rewarding to see clients reflect internally, begin the process of healing, maybe let out a forgotten laugh, reclaim their voice, and work toward recognizing how amazing they have always been.
