Hi there, I'm Lisa! Deciding to become a therapist was a spiritual journey for me. Through personal life experiences, I gained valuable wisdom, insight, and knowledge on this educational path toward helping others. I have a passion for life and a desire to share my expertise with clients. My role is to assist, facilitate, encourage, and empower individuals toward change. My approach I use a comprehensive, integrated approach to healing, utilizing CBT, DBT, and mindful daily practices. The mindful approach to emotional healing works through conscious change and perspective. Traumatic experiences happen throughout our lifetime. Being consciously aware of unconscious thoughts shows up in how our body responds to triggering events. Perspective is reality, perspective can change through proper healing. My focus Whatever you are struggling with, whether it is anxiety, depression, PTSD, or relationship issues. There are solutions. I will work with you to help you understand why you are struggling with these issues and how to develop the skills and knowledge to manage or overcome these uncomfortable symptoms. I use a collaborative approach to healing and growth through empowering clients with homework and assignments to work on outside of the counseling session. My communication style The idea in counseling is that clients talk and I actively listen. I will express my ideas, thoughts, and advice. It will be up to you as a client to decide what direction you would like to go. At the end of every session, I will ask, "What do you feel like you are struggling with the most at this time?". Based on your response, I will meet you where you are and discuss what you would like to work on for the next week. My journey to mental healthcare I went to school after a life experience. I was a single mother raising 3 children. I wanted to do something that I was passionate about. After spending some time soul-searching and praying, I was guided to become a counselor.
