Getting to know Madison (Haverty) Hassig

Outwardly you are successful, but inwardly you are struggling. You know deep down it is affecting your relationships. You just want to feel better about yourself and where you are in life, but you don’t know quite how to get there. You struggle to even begin to picture that things could be different. If this sounds like you, we should talk. Most of the women I work with begin therapy wanting something different but feeling like it is impossible to get there. I am here to tell you that it is ABSOLUTELY possible to feel the freedom you dream of—to feel released from the past baggage you’ve been carrying for so long, to have confidence in areas beyond just work, to achieve work-life balance, and to cultivate thriving, good relationships. How do I know it’s possible? Because I’ve seen it happen. When one’s own hunger and commitment to healing is combined with an effective and empowering approach, healing happens. I am a trauma-informed counselor with a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Regis University. I use various effective and research-backed modalities to support my clients as they move from their past to create the future they want. Healing is possible, and the hardest part—deciding to look for counselors—is already done. The rest of it—you don’t have to do alone.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Ultimately, our work is about YOU. But one thing you should know about me is that I ONLY use tools and modalities I have tried both personally AND professionally and found to be effective. So- as a therapist, and more importantly a human being, I know that life is not perfect. Therapy is not about judging- it is about supporting- and working together to move you to a place where you can live the life you want to live. I believe that my role is always about supporting you to learn through in-session experience, to gradually grow the capacity to support your own healing journey outside of session. I care deeply about meeting my clients where they are at- and supporting them in working towards their goals. I will guide you in experiencing healing in session so that you can take that healing outside of session, and my hope for you is always to equip you to be your own biggest support and healer. I integrate the most cutting-edge approaches to support you in doing this- parts work, somatic healing, nervous system/ neuroscience, psychoeducation, systemic work from couples and family therapy, and EMDR ( a research-backed modality that has been helpful to many people in overcoming devastating circumstances by supporting the natural tendency of the brain towards healing when given the right circumstances) are tools we may tap into! I also integrate aspects of my training in Emotion-Focused Family Therapy and care deeply about combining the world of couples and family therapy, with the world of trauma and attachment trauma to create an approach of trauma-informed systemic therapy.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

You can expect to hear from me within 1 business day to confirm details about your appointment. We will discuss office information, and I will send over the intake paperwork for our first session! Our first session will be a bit different than our other sessions moving forward as I want to ensure I get all the important details about your life so we can create an approach that is personalized for you. This session will be a bit more like a visit at the doctor's office where I will ask you more specific questions about your story and what has led to you to come to counseling. From there, we will talk through your goals, and custom-tailor our approach- to be personalized and right for you! In sessions, I will talk to you authentically, and collaboratively, I will invite you deeper into healing- and we will move at the pace you are comfortable with! We will work together to find the approach that works best for you- but if you are having anxiety about "where do I start", we will navigate that together:)

Good Question. Yes-real Talk. Counseling Is Expensive. One value our practice holds is always looking at the whole picture. We recognize that there is a large discrepancy in services- and part of our mission as a practice is to impact the mental health field as a whole. We continue to press towards change in this area in innovative and different ways (exciting updates coming soon). Many people are unaware of how deeply burnout runs in the mental health field for therapists. Because of this, another value at be counseling- is ensuring we are meeting our therapist’s needs so that in turn our therapists are able to care for you in the fulsome way you deserve! The saying goes- make sure your own oxygen mask is on before supporting someone else in putting on their oxygen mask. Another thing to remember- counselor’s fees include office space, insurance, additional time spent on notes and preparation outside of session, trainings to make sure we are offering the most updated & relevant therapies, supervision and consultation, What I will say- if there is one thing in your life to invest in- it is quality, effective, good fit therapy. It WILL save you time + money in the long run + matters immensely. Counseling is an investment- in your emotional, mental, social, relational, physical, spiritual and vocational well-being! Long story short- counseling IS expensive and counseling IS worth it.

Madison is a very thoughtful leader and advisor. She’s genuinely taught me so much about what it means to live a fulfilling life while serving those around you. I’ve had some tough times recently and she taught me the importance of just listening. I cannot recommend her more!
Madison has been a great therapist for me. She is empathetic and understanding, and I can tell that she really listens to my concerns and issues. I would highly recommend her to anyone seeking therapy.
Highly recommend. She brings a warm, thoughtful, attentive energy to the room and cares deeply. I have benefitted immensely from her patience, kindness, and compassion as we've worked together to unpack emotions & reactions and connect the dots to develop self-compassion and coping strategies. She is flexible in her treatment approach and offers many options to see what will work best for you and pivots session-to-session as needed depending on the mood or appetite for that day.
Madison was an excellent person to talk to about some very deep-seated issues I had struggling with for most of my life. She listens extremely well, responds with thought-provoking questions, and does a fantastic job of recontextualizing and reframing traumatic experiences. With her help, I have been able to better understand so many of the crippling anxieties that have kept me back for so many years. I cannot recommend Dr. Haverty-Hassig's services enough. She's so kind and considerate, and offers such a compassionate voice when you need one most.
Words can't quite describe the impactful experience I've had through my work with Madison. She is able listen and respond with both wisdom and empathy. Through my sessions with her, I was able to better understand my emotions and develop skills to be able to better cope moving forward. I would recommend Madison without hesitation. Any former misconceptions about counseling will be disproven after you initially meet with Madison. I can say with confidence, that taking the leap and scheduling time to invest in counseling will be the single most important step you take to growing and healing!
Madison is an incredibly skilled therapist. She is warm, empathetic, caring and makes you feel at ease immediately when you meet her. She specializes in working with families and couples...however I would also recommend her if you are looking for an individual therapist. Madison is a true gem; your life will be enriched if you get the chance to work with her!
Madison exudes warmth, compassion, and empathy. When you are speaking with her you know that she is attentive to you and gives you space and permission to be yourself as you work through life's difficulties. Madison knows her stuff! She has an extensive amount of knowledge for how to best support individuals and families, and tailors her approach to each client she encounters. She is creative and makes therapy engaging. I highly recommend Madison if you are needing support and care for you or your family!
Madison is a compassionate, warm, and incredibly professional therapist. She immediately creates a non-judgemental and supportive environment, and is highly skilled at working with both families and individuals. I can’t recommend her enough!
