Maggie Janessian, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
I am a California-licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from California State University Northridge. My approach is client-centered, working collaboratively with individuals to create treatment goals while meeting them where they are with empathy, compassion, and a non-judgmental attitude. I utilize dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to assist individuals suffering from depression, anxiety, and many other conditions for which it is helpful. DBT is based on mindfulness, emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. I typically work with clients experiencing depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, or life transitions. I also have experience working with eating disorders and substance abuse. I aim to create a warm environment where clients feel comfortable being themselves and can develop a trusting relationship that encourages them to open up about deeper thoughts, feelings, and concerns. I began my journey in mental healthcare because I enjoy helping people who are struggling by partnering with them to reach their potential for happiness, peace, connection, and success. I collaborate with clients to create functional goals that encourage proactive participation in therapy and progress that feels reasonable to accomplish. In our first session, I will gather information to get to know you and understand how I can best serve you. I will also share about myself and address any questions or concerns you may have about engaging in therapy. Together, we will create treatment goals and begin building rapport to work toward those goals.
