Getting to know Maria Padilla

Welcome! I am Maria Elizabeth Padilla, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I provide telehealth services in California, working with children, adolescents, adults, and families. My approach consists of Client-Centered, Family-Centered, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. I utilize attachment and social learning principles to improve the quality of parent-child relationships and decrease disruptive behaviors, focusing on reducing depression, anxiety, and emotional difficulties by using specific skills and techniques to support clients in managing their behaviors. My approach When providing therapy, my approach varies depending on the client. I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Client-Centered Therapy, and a family-centered approach to support clients in managing their well-being, provide unconditional positive regard, and help improve the bond in the parent-child relationship. My focus I work with children, adolescents, adults, and families who may be experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, disruptive behaviors, difficulties with adjustment, or attachment issues. I focus on giving them the tools, skills, and techniques to help alleviate behaviors, stressors, and difficult feelings, ultimately improving the quality and outcomes of their mental health. My communication style My communication style is polite, respectful, warm, and easygoing. I want my clients to feel heard, respected, understood, and comfortable talking about their feelings, worries, and problems. My journey to mental healthcare I worked alongside other therapists and social workers in an office setting, wearing many hats and embracing opportunities for growth at the counseling center where I worked. This experience inspired me to pursue my education in Marital and Family Therapy. I earned my Master of Arts in Marital and Family Therapy from Pacific Oaks College.
