Mark Wilson, LCSW

Psychotherapist
NC
Hi there, I'm Mark! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who finds great satisfaction in helping others who are going through struggles and need to talk to someone besides friends or family. My approach I enjoy using client-centered therapy. While my go-to therapies are using coping skills such as mindfulness and breathing exercises to help others, I try to tailor my techniques to each individual person. I enjoy meeting the person where they are at. I have used cognitive behavioral therapy, solutions-focused therapy, humanistic approaches, as well as psychodynamic approaches, and trauma-informed care. My focus I try to help others who are going through trauma, those in the LGBTQ community, and those who are having spiritual/religious issues. My communication style I try to use an informal, compassionate, and nonjudgmental approach. I use active listening and unconditional positive regard. My journey to mental healthcare When I was in my teens, I was going through trouble that I did not want to talk about to others. I had a lot of anxiety, and I think that my lack of coping skills led to severe mental health problems. Eventually, I was able to use that experience to help others going through mental health and/or substance use disorders as a Certified Peer Support Specialist. Eventually, I went back to school to be a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and I obtained full licensure in May 2024. Now I want to help YOU! My goals for you I like to take a collaborative approach, asking clients what they want to work on. If they do not know what they work on, I will try to help them figure it out. My first session with you I try to meet the individual where they are at. When I have to diagnose a person, I try to focus more on their strengths and needs rather than labeling a person.
