Hi there, I'm Matthew! My name is Matthew Simmons. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and a Licensed Addictions Counselor (LAC) in Colorado. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Hawaii. I have 15+ years supporting adolescents, individuals, and families at the intersection of ADHD, addiction, anxiety, and attachment issues. I believe in the transformative power of mindfulness to create a flourishing and abundant life. My approach My therapeutic approach varies based on client needs. I utilize Attachment Focused Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), MBCT/Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), and Motivational Interviewing to develop solutions that increase happiness and life satisfaction, improve mental and physical health, connect with meaning and purpose, and help clients promote good even in difficult situations. My focus I work with individuals, families, and adolescents to address struggles related to ADHD, addiction, anxiety, and attachment issues. I also facilitate Mindful Masculine men’s groups. My communication style My style is compassionate and collaborative to create a safe environment to explore and identify solutions. Working with me is like meeting a friend with gentle but firm curiosity wanting to support you. I pride myself on hearing someone’s story without judgment and being fully present in the moment. My journey to mental healthcare My journey to becoming a therapist started as a young man with many of the same struggles I support today. Early on, I realized there is a shared humanity among us. It’s easy to feel lost in life’s chaos, longing for deeper connection and authenticity. Through mindfulness, I have experienced a more values-aligned life. I am committed to providing these frameworks and strategies to help others live.
