Hi there, I'm Maygen! My name is Maygen Hicks, and I'm an LCSW licensed in the state of North Carolina. I completed my Master's in Social Work with an emphasis on children, youth, and families from the University of Southern California. For approximately five years, I have been providing therapy services in North Carolina communities. I began my career working with survivors of trauma, utilizing a person-centered approach to ensure individualized care for all my clients. My approach Because clients experience unique and evolving needs throughout their lifespan, I believe in tailoring treatment modalities to fit the varying experiences you may be facing. I have experience with CBT and can utilize DBT techniques, family therapy, and play therapy to ensure your needs are fully met. My focus I have found that my approach is a good fit for children, teens, and young adults. I work with clients to navigate challenges such as anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, and self-esteem, helping them develop a more positive mindset that leads to a more fulfilling life. My communication style My communication style is kind, empathetic, and direct. I listen without judgment and want my clients to feel they can talk to me openly and without fear of being judged. My journey to mental healthcare I have always known I wanted to help people, though I wasn't sure in what capacity or where social work would take me. During grad school, I had the opportunity to intern as a therapist working with trauma survivors. Helping people in this capacity became my passion and led me to where I am now as a therapist. My goals for you I ensure all goals are set mutually between my clients and me. Together, we set attainable goals that we work toward collaboratively, helping clients reach the outcomes that are most important to them.
