Melissa Simpson, LPC

Psychotherapist
CO
Hi there, I'm Melissa! I am a dedicated Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with 12 years of experience in Colorado. I work with clients statewide via telehealth only. I help adults (ages 18+) who struggle with anxiety and depression overcome challenges through a variety of therapeutic techniques. My approach My approach varies depending on each client's needs. Drawing primarily on Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and other approaches, I help you explore your past and current thoughts, emotions, and behaviors by asking thoughtful questions to uncover insights and develop practical strategies for change. My focus I specialize in working with individuals who are experiencing depression and anxiety as it relates to work stress, relationship issues, life transitions, trauma, and other external factors. Often, these clients consider themselves high-achieving individuals but feel they are suffering in silence with unresolved mental health issues. I initially provide a supportive environment where clients feel heard while guiding them to regain control of their lives amid the chaos called life. My communication style My communication style is collaborative but direct. I want my clients to feel at home when talking to me and feel empowered to become their best selves, whatever that looks like to each person. My journey to mental healthcare I decided to become a therapist because of a deep belief that no one should suffer in silence when it comes to mental health. Many have told me I can create a safe space for them. My goals for you My approach to goal setting involves establishing trust and asking what you want to achieve in therapy. Some people desire more self-compassion or meaningful growth, while others want to learn techniques for getting through the day. I don’t write letters or fill out forms (e.g, ESA, FMLA, disability, etc.) of any kind as I am not trained in this area.
