Getting to know Michael Collins

My name is Michael Collins, and I'm a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Los Angeles, California. I hold a Master's in Psychology from Antioch University. I work with adult and adolescent clients via Telehealth who are dealing with life transitions, depression, anxiety, and/or Adult ADHD. My approach centers on curiosity and active listening. While I have training in many modalities, I tailor interventions by getting to know each client deeply and helping them identify their dreams and goals for the future. I have worked with a diverse range of clients from many backgrounds: adolescents navigating the transition to adulthood, clients with Adult ADHD developing tools to support their success, and those new to therapy-especially clients who have been told, “You have to be crazy to go to a therapist.” My communication style is casual and conversational. I strive to create a space free of judgment, where clients feel comfortable discussing anything they want. I follow the lead of the client. Many clients are task-oriented and thrive on structure, feeling a sense of accomplishment as they chart their progress. Others prefer setting a general direction with goals but appreciate more leeway and a less formal structure. Our first session will focus on you-how you've been feeling and the obstacles you've been facing. I will ask questions about all aspects of your life and history to understand who you are and how I can best collaborate in your growth.
