Michael Hagan, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi, my name is Mike Hagan, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) as well as a Substance Use Disorder Certified Counselor (SUDCC). I hold a Master's in Psychology from California Southern University. I offer a gentle, accepting environment to assist you or your family in navigating issues related to addiction, relationships, life transitions, parenting, or living a fulfilling life as an older adult. I will work collaboratively with you to find ways to address all challenges related to living life on life's terms, particularly when dealing with alcohol and drug use, my chosen area of specialization. My approach My favored frame of reference is existential therapy, meaning that we will journey together to understand your strengths, develop your ability to access those strengths, and gain skills to live a life worth living-to find meaning in your existence. You are the expert on your own life, and my job is to listen for understanding. There are many paths toward overall well-being; you and I will work to find what path may be best for you. My focus Because of my life experiences as a partner, parent, educator, business professional, and work in substance use recovery, I have found success working with people struggling with and stressed by myriad issues such as relationship challenges, parenting, being a professional or a student, life transitions (birth of a child, sending a child to kindergarten or university, facing an empty nest, marriage or separation, career changes, loss of a loved one, etc.), drug and/or alcohol use, or simply finding ways to be happy and peaceful in day-to-day living. My communication style My goal is to listen for understanding and work with you as a partner, accepting that you are the expert on your life. As you tell your story, I will listen for themes and help you identify your strengths while reflecting on your areas for growth.
