Greetings! My name is Michelle Elias, LPC, CAC III. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Addictions Counselor with over 15 years of experience in mental health and substance abuse. I hold a Master of Education in Community Counseling from Colorado State University. I take a strength-based approach when working with clients, helping them navigate a wide variety of challenges they may face in their daily lives. I use an eclectic therapeutic style because each person has a unique experience and individual needs that are important for me to understand to achieve the best outcomes in our therapeutic relationship. My approach combines strength-based and eclectic methods because every client brings a unique story to the work we do together. I am trained in several evidence-based practices and specific counseling techniques. My most commonly used theoretical approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy, Person Centered Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). I also incorporate Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE), Gottman Theory for Couples, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). Typically, clients gravitate toward talk therapy that blends concepts from these approaches based on their individual needs. I primarily work with adolescents and adults of all ages in individual counseling and with adults of all ages in couples counseling. I am comfortable addressing a wide range of mental health and substance use conditions. At this stage in my career, I am an expert in working with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, and PTSD. I am highly skilled in supporting clients with significant trauma, including sexual assault, relationship violence, childhood trauma, and trauma related to military service.
