Getting to know Michelle Pereira

Hi there, I'm Michelle! My name is Michelle Pereira, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in Los Angeles, California, working with clients statewide via telehealth. I earned my Master?s in Social Work from California State University, Long Beach. I work with adolescents and adults, specializing in anxiety, stress, and trauma. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Feminist Oriented Theory, and holistic modalities such as crystal healing and Reiki to help my clients make progress and start feeling better. My approach My approach to therapy varies based on the needs of each person I work with. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Feminist Oriented Theory, as both modalities help me and the person I work with to create a therapeutic experience that is unique and personalized to them. My focus I have found that my trauma-specific style and approach is a good fit for teens, young adults, and adults who may be dealing with the challenges of life transitions and social pressures, as well as navigating the realities of interpersonal and intergenerational trauma. This often takes the form of anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, self-image issues, other mood disorders, stress, PTSD, among others. I work to help my clients navigate these transition periods and build skills that empower them in ways best suited to their needs and life circumstances. This collaborative approach allows clients to feel in control and make intrinsic realizations that assist them in making necessary changes in their lives. My communication style My communication style is calm, accommodating, and relatable. I want my clients to feel comfortable talking with me about anything, and I pride myself on my ability to listen without judgment while respecting the nuances of every person?s communication style and experiences. My journey to therapy I decided to become a therapist because I have seen how impactful witnessing another person?s truth can be.
