Getting to know Michelle Segal

My name is Michelle Segal, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (license #100143) with a Master’s in Social Work from the University of Southern California. I have over 5 years of experience working with individuals and families facing a variety of mental health and health-related challenges. My main focus is to empower each client by highlighting their strengths and creating a comfortable, safe, and non-judgmental environment. My approach I draw from several therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Strengths-Based Therapy, Trauma-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. I combine these approaches to best meet each person’s unique and individual needs. My focus I am comfortable working with adolescents, young adults, pre-teens, and families dealing with a range of issues. I have supported clients managing anxiety, depression, chronic illness, and life transitions. Additionally, I work with young mothers experiencing postpartum depression and/or anxiety. My communication style As a friendly and outgoing person, I prioritize making sure my clients feel comfortable being open during our sessions. I maintain professionalism while fostering a safe, non-judgmental space for therapy. My journey to therapy When my mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer during my high school years, I felt deeply supported by the social workers and therapists who helped my family. This experience inspired me to pursue a career in mental health so I could give back in the same meaningful way. My goals for you I focus on addressing each person’s goals through small, attainable steps. By helping clients achieve these manageable goals, I aim to boost their self-esteem and use these successes as motivation to tackle more challenging objectives. My first session with you Typically, I spend the first session building our relationship and developing trust.
