Michelle Stark, LCSW

Michelle Stark, LCSW

Psychotherapist
MD
I have over 25 years of clinical social work experience. I received my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Maryland before moving to California in 1999. I have extensive experience working with a variety of populations, including adolescents, teen mothers, and the medically fragile. I am trained in a variety of modalities, including EMDR. I assess patients’ psychosocial status in relation to their illness and environment, carry out psychosocial evaluations, and plan interventions based on evaluation findings. I provide information and referral services for organization patients and families/caregivers regarding practical and environmental needs. I also provide psychotherapy for adults, adolescents, and children in the form of individual, couple, group, and family sessions, specializing in trauma-informed care based on neurological research. My therapeutic approach is guided by what will help my clients achieve their long-term goals and strengthen their interpersonal relationships. I like to think of myself as the “Patch Adams of social work,” with a unique and engaging way of connecting with my clients and acting as a catalyst for the changes they want to see.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
