Michelle Young, LMFT

Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Michelle! My name is Michelle Young, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I earned my Master's in Counseling Psychology from California State University, East Bay. I work with children, adolescents, and adults. My approach I tailor treatment to the needs and preferences of my clients and maintain a client-centered approach. I most often utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Narrative and Experiential Interventions, and Play Therapy in my work with clients. My focus My focus is helping my clients navigate anxiety, depression, trauma (including relationship trauma), PTSD, self-esteem, and attachment. My communication style I believe that therapy should be client-centered. I tend to maintain a conversational tone in sessions to create a safe space to build a therapeutic relationship. I also strongly believe that my clients should be actively involved in their healing and encourage "homework" outside of sessions. My journey to mental healthcare Growing up, I wanted to be Lucy from Charlie Brown and provide a place where kids could get help. I have experienced adverse life experiences and learned firsthand that life's challenges are often easier to navigate with help. My goals for you Goal setting is a collaborative process. I ask my clients how their lives would be different if therapy is successful for them and break those goals down into pieces that are measurable and achievable. My first session with you The first session is a lot about questions and answers. I like to know what has brought you to therapy at this time, what your life is like, and what you hope therapy will change in your life. I explain how therapy works, explain confidentiality, and answer any questions you have.
