Miles Kramer, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CO
Hi there, I'm Miles! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing in Colorado and California since 2000. I see adults and adolescents by telehealth. Our work together is focused and practical; we name what's holding you back and build skills to manage it and keep it managed. My focus I deal with adolescents & adults whose usual ways of coping have stopped working, as well as first responders, executives, physicians, and clinical leaders who want work that assumes competence rather than treating it as a symptom, and parents raising a child with autism or serious mental illness, at any age. My approach Most people who find me are capable adults who have run out of road. You have a good collection of ways to get through hard things. Work harder. Think harder. Stay busy. Solve the problem. Exercise. Compartmentalize. Have a drink. Tell yourself to get over it. My communication style I'm direct, warm, and plain-spoken. I will tell you what I actually think. There is room to laugh (humor is essential) and room to say hard things out loud. I do not use jargon, and I won't pretend a hard thing is easy or reassure you that something "normal" doesn't feel horrible. My journey to mental healthcare I've spent my entire career in the hard places: hospitals, emergency rooms, crisis clinics, jails, and forensic programs, leading and mentoring clinicians and executives. I taught graduate students in counseling and forensic psychology, and I am the parent of two children with autism. This work has found me in several ways. My goals for you In the first session, we'll create goals in your own words and define how we'll know we're done. We'll build a plan with steps you can take between sessions, and we'll review progress out loud. The work has a finish line you can see from the starting line.
