Psychotherapist
NC
Hi there, I'm Nathan! I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor in North Carolina with a Master’s in Counseling from Southern Methodist University. I enjoy helping adults identify what holds them back from creating the life they want and working together to overcome feelings, limiting beliefs, traumas, and other obstacles. I am here to listen, challenge, support, and encourage you along the journey of self-realization. My approach The approach I use varies depending on what is needed to address the issues at hand. During sessions, I draw upon CBT, Solution-Focused, psychodynamic, and reality theory, among others. Having the flexibility to use the best tool for the job is important because every client is different and responds differently to specific approaches. My focus I often work with people struggling with addictions, codependency, and relationships. I enjoy helping people make the changes they need to become the best version of themselves. Since addiction and codependency are often symptoms of other problems like trauma, depression, and anxiety, I help clients identify those core issues and move past them. My communication style Several clients have told me I am easy to talk to and that they feel comfortable opening up. I listen more than I speak because it is your session, not mine. When appropriate, I may share an experience from my own recovery to illustrate a point or help a client feel less alone, but I always make it clear our relationship is professional. Safety is vital in therapy, and boundaries create that safety. My journey to mental healthcare The biggest driver for me entering this work is my desire to help people. I am in long-term recovery from addiction, which gives me unique insight into the minds of those struggling with addiction and codependency. Having found happiness and purpose through my own work, I know it is possible for others as well.
