Seeking emotional support can be intimidating. It may be especially difficult if you come from a culture where addressing mental illness is still stigmatized and can be perceived as “bringing shame to the family.” As a Filipino American, I want to help transform the view of psychotherapy in my community as well as in other communities. I want to assure individuals that it is alright to reach out to a professional to share what they are going through and to encourage the utilization of such resources in order to feel more empowered. I have experience working with a diverse population, including individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, and substance use. My approach is very humanistic and strength-based, and I like to integrate mindfulness, as I find these tools beneficial for the wellness of the human mind. I am also fluent in Tagalog. I earned my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from California State University, Northridge. Let me provide you with a safe space to share your authentic self, and together we will collaborate in developing attainable goals that can help you bring positive changes into your life.
