Nina Parks, LCSW

Psychotherapist
CA
I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who specializes in trauma/PTSD and working with Black/BIPOC and Queer clients. My goal as a therapist is to collaboratively work with clients to heal from trauma and mental health concerns like anxiety, depression, personality disorders, and mood disorders. My approach I am an eclectic therapist, which means I pull from all the therapy styles I have been trained in to support your needs. I am trained in EMDR (a PTSD therapy), CBT (a cognitive therapy for anxiety and depression), mindfulness, and somatic therapy (supports with physical and mental symptoms). Together, we find what works best for you and your needs. My focus I believe sharing identities with your therapist can be a part of the healing process. As a Black and Latina queer woman, I have both the lived experience and training to support clients who identify as Black, POC, and LGBTQIA+. I am a trauma-based therapist who has 8 years of experience working with domestic violence and sexual assault survivors. My communication style I prioritize open and empathic communication, which validates your experience while bringing constructive insights to support your growth and healing. I am adaptive and able to be gentle when needed, while also being direct and honest. My goal is to be a dynamic counselor who feels real and human. My journey to mental healthcare I became a therapist because when trauma and anxiety led me to seek therapy as a young adult, there was no one who looked like me or shared my identities who could support me. Now my goal is to be the therapist I (and other Black, brown, and LGBTQ+ clients like me) needed then and now. My goals for you I aim to create collaborative goals with you that feel attainable and client-led. While the focus of therapy is lessening symptoms from mental health diagnoses, ultimately, you decide what healing looks like and therefore the goals of therapy.
