Hello, my name is Dr Pamela Shannahan I am a Doctor of Behavioral Health, having earned my degree in Behavioral Aspects of Health from Arizona State University, and a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master’s in Marriage, Family, and Child Therapy from the University of Phoenix I have worked in counseling since 2006, focusing on person-centered, trauma-informed counseling I work with people of all ages across the life spectrum My specialties include infant and early childhood mental health, parenting education and support; end-of-life counseling for patients and families; and supporting individuals, couples, and families facing life and relationship challenges as well as mental and behavioral health struggles My approach I use several modalities, often combining CBT, DBT, and Behavioral therapy My focus is always person-centered, systematic, and trauma-informed My focus I have experience with people across the life spectrum—from birth to death—with various behavioral and mental health conditions, including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, behavioral challenges, disruptive behavioral and dissocial disorders, PTSD, grief and bereavement (including perinatal loss), and parenting support and education My communication style I create a calm, safe, reflective, and non-judgmental environment Clients report feeling safe, heard, understood, accepted without condition, and important My journey to mental healthcare I have always been drawn to person-centered careers Early on, I earned degrees and gained experience in Early Childhood Development and Education, including parent and teacher support focused on the child Continued professional, educational, and life experiences developed my skills, interests, and desire to become a Doctor of Behavioral Health, focusing on helping people and families be their strongest and healthiest across all systems My goals for you Goals are client-driven and set through communication between client and therapist.
