Getting to know Paola Elser

Hello there. My name is Maria Paola Cortes Elser. I was born in Colombia and have been living in the USA for 23 years now. As an immigrant, I have faced different situations that helped me grow personally and spiritually, and understand how special it is to be from somewhere else and become part of this extraordinary country. I understand the challenges that come with transitioning from a different land to America and all the life experiences those changes include-mentally, culturally, and spiritually. I have a bachelor's degree in psychology from Santo Tomas De Aquino University in Bogot?, Colombia, and a master's degree in Professional Clinical Counseling from Grand Canyon University in the USA. I have been working in this field for 10 years and have experience with domestic violence, PTSD, sexual and physical abuse, depression, anxiety, bipolar and personality disorders, as well as substance abuse. I speak English and Spanish, and my motivation is to help and support individuals and families who struggle with relationships and mental illnesses through faith and professional clinical counseling.

What should a new client know about working with you?

´´Life brings us different paths, it is our own choice to decide which one fits us and follow it. However, sometimes we feel our life is not going the way we expect it to and we don’t feel good with the results. The good news is we can change our path as individuals and build and construct our life the way we want it. Our thoughts build our beliefs and values, then they become actions, through them we construct our behavior, and behavior becomes our life. If you allow me, I will support you and help you to follow your path, the way you want it, to reach happiness and improve your life, through faith, and professional Clinical counseling´´

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
