Psychotherapist
CA
Hi there, I'm Patricia! Good to meet you here! My name is Patty Abrantes, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a Master's in Social Work from the University of California, Berkeley. I am here to provide a safe and non-judgmental space for you to begin your journey to healing and self-determination. My approach I plan to collaborate with you, hear you out, and create a safe space for you to share openly during these sessions. Here, you can expect a space of further self-awareness, introspection, exploration, and mindfulness-building processes that may assist with your healing journey. I don't sugar-coat and will work with Solution-Focused approaches that are realistic and align with your goals and resources. My focus I have 20 years of experience in the Substance Use Disorder field and have worked extensively with individuals, youth, and families. Addiction, coupled with other mental health issues, is very complex and often involves various types of trauma histories. Dissecting the multiple layers of issues can be overwhelming, and having a safe space to start is what's most important to begin this journey. My communication style You will be in the comfort of your own space, as I aim to provide calm and introspective sessions for you to freely share thoughts, feelings, and emotions. I am a good listener and offer an empathic approach during our sessions, with targeted goals and solutions that we identify collaboratively, leading to alternative paths in this journey of healing. My journey to mental healthcare I believe each of us has a story or narrative that we bring to the table and share in this world. Growing up as a first-generation immigrant in this country, I bring with me a complex set of values and experiences that are quite unique in the helping field. My demeanor and approach are pleasant, realistic, and down to earth. My hope is to provide a breath of fresh air in this chaotic, complex world we live in.
