CA
Hello, my name is Patty Ortega, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 5 years of experience. I hold a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from California State University, Dominguez Hills, and a Bachelor’s degree from California State University, Bakersfield. I am passionate about helping individuals facing challenges related to depression, self-esteem, and anxiety that often stem from trauma and relational conflict. I look forward to supporting you as you begin your healing journey! My approach A strong therapeutic relationship using a person-centered approach is the foundation of my work. I also incorporate methods such as CBT, solution-focused therapy, and EMDR to help clients achieve their goals. My focus I enjoy working with teens and adults, particularly people of color, dealing with depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, life transitions, and trauma. I find it rewarding to help others confront deep wounds and generational traumas impacting their self-esteem and relationships. My communication style My goal is to create a warm, safe, and supportive environment. I use feedback-informed treatment to encourage open dialogue about what works and what doesn’t in therapy and within our relationship. My journey to mental healthcare Growing up in a Hispanic household with mental health struggles, I learned the importance of prioritizing mental health and seeking help. I am passionate about providing space for others from backgrounds where seeking help is not always the norm and breaking generational patterns. My goals for you At the start of treatment, I ask clients what they hope to gain and work with them to set goals. Throughout treatment, I regularly check in to assess progress and explore new goals. My first session with you During our first session, we will discuss why you are seeking treatment, your symptoms, and build rapport. I ask questions to help identify areas to focus on during therapy.
