Getting to know Paul Ellingsen

I am a family and marriage therapist licensed in California with over 30 years of diverse experience, including work with CPS, adolescent residential treatment centers, substance abuse treatment centers, psychiatric hospitals, and conducting psychiatric evaluations in a hospital ER. I hold a Master's in Counseling Psychology from National University. I have seen it all and dealt with it all. I am the author of the upcoming book: “If you have recurring problems, this is probably why.” I am understanding, thoughtful, intuitive, sensitive, and empathetic, and I prioritize assisting each client in reaching their goals in counseling. Some problems in life can be challenging to deal with. It can be hard to make progress or understand why we feel or act the way we do. We can be stifled by fear, hampered by low self-esteem, or suffer from being too hard on ourselves. It can seem that we repeatedly face the same kinds of problems or painful emotions. We can feel stuck. The good news is that although things can seem complicated, there is always a reason-a belief, an experience, a meaning, a fear, or a combination of these-that underlies repetitive problems and difficult emotions such as anger, despair, or depression. My role is to help you sort through these issues, gain clarity and understanding, build resilience, increase your resolve, and develop tools that will enable you to dismantle and break free from negative patterns, painful beliefs, low self-esteem, depression, fear, past trauma-whatever it is. I look forward to working with you.
